The church is supposed to be seen as a representative of the city of the living God or a place where God lives. It is supposed to be a symbol of the heavenly Jerusalem where there are activities of the angelic, the assembly and church of the first born.
Hebrews 12:22 says,” But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect.
The church is not a building but a group of people or a person. These are persons in whom God lives and who represent God and his kingdom having the supernatural on a daily basis. . You become the church when you accept the lord as your person savior and this act brings you deliverance. It is the first step of being delivered.
Obadiah 1:17, “But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions”.
The church is the only place (being saved) that can give you true deliverance and you can only stay delivered by living a holy life (being holy). It does not end there because if you remain in the church (saved) and you live a holy life, then you can possess your possessions. True deliverance comes only by being saved and living a holy life.
People run from church to church fasting, praying and looking for deliverance but afterwards go back to sinning, cheating and stealing and so on. Later, they wonder why they have not been (fully) delivered after spending so much money, time and made serious efforts towards getting deliverance. Persons like this will never be delivered or stay delivered if they do not live a holy life. Being delivered is not the ultimate but living a holy life. When you live a holy life, you will see the hand of God on your life and you will definitely possess your possessions.
Deliverance from a thing should not give you the license to sin but it should spur you on to leading a holy life. If you do not lead a holy life, you open the door for the devil and his cohorts to enter your life again. And guess what; it will be worse than the period or the time before you got delivered. Someone once said. “True deliverance is not only getting free but also staying free”. The more you focus on God, habits, lifestyles and the manipulations of the devil will drop out of your life gradually. Wilson Ileogben
