WHEN THE SUN RISES

JUST THINKING:

The weather has become very fickle lately. In the past, you could tell or predict when the raining season will start and when it will end. But it is not so any more. It has been raining cat and dog lately and many places have been affected by the flood that comes as a result of the rain. If we take care of our environment, if we have a good drainage system and if we don’t litter our environment with trash, floods can be managed.

When it rains, farmers are always happy. It is a blessing to them because of their seeds sown and their crops. But others may be angry because it brings pain to them as a result of the environment in which they live, their leaking roof, the destruction of lives and properties and so on. Rain reduces the heat in our society and it waters the seeds planted by farmers but it can bring pain to others. It can affect people negatively and emotionally.

Years ago, there was a very heavy down pour which affected me. The flood was so bad that my house was flooded. The level of the water in my seating room, bedroom, kitchen and so on was up to my kneel level. The flood destroyed so many things in my house and I saw some fish swimming in compound. I wish I caught them (lol). It was an experience I will not want anyone to experience.

Genesis 7: 17-22 says,” ¹⁷ Now the flood was on the earth forty days. The waters increased and lifted up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. ¹⁸ The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth, and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters. ¹⁹ And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered. ²⁰ The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered. ²¹ And all flesh died that moved on the earth: birds and cattle and beasts and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man. ²² All in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, all that was on the dry land, died”.

I would like you to imagine what would happen to the earth and mankind if it rains for those number of days and nights in our time. Rain fell for forty days and forty nights in Noah’s day and destroyed everything on earth. However, after the flood in Noah's day, the sun rose and the flood dried up. This is what usually happens in life. After the rain, there may be rainbow but the sun will always rise afterwards. When the sun rises, so many things happen.

When the sun rises, photosynthesis takes place. Photosynthesis is the process by which a plant uses the energy from the light of the sun to produce its own food. It is the way that green plants make their food using sunlight. Also, when the sun rises, floods dry up, people work freely, and clothes will get dried easily. The sun gives light, it rules the day, it gives Vitamin D, it illuminates, it affects and enhances your mood, it lowers blood pressure, it cheers you up, it reduces heart diseases, prevents diabetes, gives more energy and so on. 

Connotatively, rain could represent pains, trials, storms of life and challenges. While the sun could be a new dawn, victory, healing, restoration, success and breakthrough. No matter the rain that is pouring down on you and how drained you are today, the sun will rise sooner than you expect. Do not allow the pain and trials make you give up and run back. Storms of life will certainly come but there is always the sunlight of hope, victory and restoration at the end of the day. No matter how heavy the rain is or has been in your life, the sun will certainly rise. So, do not lose your patience, zeal, and determination because the sun will soon rise over you.
