Dialling God's Number...

When there is a crime, we call 911 (The Police). We also call on friends, neighbours, family members when there are issues and challenges. Many times the police and family members have failed us because they were not able to resolve the crime and come to our aid.
There are things in our lives that our friends and the police can’t help us with and explain to us. We ask ourselves questions daily about them but can’t seem to get the answer to the questions. In the cause of having thoughts, questions and concerns in our hearts, some of us have wondered off and worsened it by going to people who have not helped but aggravated the pain and worries.
Calling on people in difficult times is good. A few people have been helped in life because they called friends in the nick of time who gave them good piece of advice which paid off. Good businesses have sprouted in the world because men sought other men’s advice, professionals and clergy men who had experience and insights into what they wanted to do. The bible says in the multitude of counsel, there is safety.
 However, man is limited. Man can only advise you from his limited point of view. Many years ago, a well-known company was asked to do a review on the telecommunication business before it started fully. The company came with its report and predictions saying that the telecommunication business did not have a future and that it would not be viable. Today, that report has been proven wrong because the telecommunication business is the driving force behind most businesses on earth. Although it is capital intensive, it is very viable and the future is hinged on telecommunication.
 God, the creator of the heavens and the earth is the only one who can tell you why you are going through pains, the causes, and also heal and deliver you from the issues and challenges. He is not a man who is limited. He is God…….Jeremiah 33:2&3 says, ““This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it—the Lord is his name:
‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’
When you call on HIM, he will reveal truths and unsearchable things to you and answer your questions. He has his own “telephone number” that you can call him on at any time and day. His number is always available when you call him. No network problem (failure) and he is very patient to listen to you when you call on him. Jabez called his number and God delivered and blessed him.

1 Chronicles 4: 9-10 says, “Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.”
10 Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.
Jabez’s situation was beyond him and he decided to cry out to (call on) God and his request was granted. Many people have called on God and he has answered them and changed their lives. His telephone number is available to us but we have not been using it. His number is dialed when we pray, praise, worship him, do his will and obey his word. When you attend church services and study his word, you are dialing his number. It is not difficult calling him because any one can call him.
The bible says that He will not leave us and forsake us. But when we are going through issues of life and challenges, we tend to think that he has left us. We feel dejected and betrayed by him. But the truth is, he is with us. He is with you when you are laughing and he will never leave you when you are crying. We should learn how to dial his number always. Some people only call on him once in a while. They do it when they are in a mess. This should not be. Calling God’s number should be an everyday time. Some people don’t know how to call friends and return calls when they see missed calls on their phones. We should not treat God that way. He dials our numbers daily but it either goes to voice mail or we don’t pick his call because we are so busy and noisy. Furthermore, we all should learn to call him when we are in abundance and in lack, and when we are rejoicing and mourning. If you call on him, he will not hang up on you and he will never tell you that you are disturbing him.
Psalm 91:15 says,  He will call on me, and I will answer him;
 I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
He said that “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33”. He has promised you that he will be with you whenever you are in trouble. Trouble is one of the things you and I will experience often as long as we are alive on earth. If we are call on him when we are faced with it, he will deliver us from it and honour us according to his word.  There is a time to call friends and family but calling on God like Jabez did when he was in a mess, is the best thing to do instead of trying to fix it ourselves and calling on men.
