The early men went about their daily lives naked as taught and believed. But we were told that man evolved and he started inventing things and even clothes. He moved on from being walking around naked to man wearing all sort of clothes. But one thing I have observed about this generation is that we prefer the way the early men moved around naked. I see men and women exposing their cleavages, chest, breasts, thighs, buttocks and other sensitive parts and I wonder if we have gotten to our saturation point in the evolvement of man that we are going back to the age of the early man in our thinking and dressing.
In Genesis 3:21, the bible says, “The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them”.
After Adam and Eve had eaten the apple, they discovered that they were naked and they took leaves to make clothes to cover up her nakedness. Genesis 3:7 says “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves”. The leaves could not cover up them completely so God had to make garments of animal skins to cloth them. If God could see that what they were wearing did not cover them and he had to clothe them with garment made of skin, then, why are we going naked in the name of fashion, being famous, being trendy and being in vogue? If what you are wearing does not cover you fully without showing sensitive parts of your body, then you are putting on “leaves”.
The disappointing thing is that the people who are supposed to be role models go and dress naked. Fathers, mothers, bosses, adults and so on dress nude because they want to be trendy. I saw a picture of a woman half naked with her two kids on the internet and I wondered what this world has become. The girl, a toddler was dressed like her mum but the boy was well dressed. If the woman could dress herself and her daughter that way, then what is she training her daughter to become? I see Christians and ministers of the gospel also dress in this way and I also wonder if we have the Holy Spirit and what we hear in our various places of worship. There is a so called religious church that tells all it members to come for worship naked. This shows it has crept into the church and people are legalizing it.
The Bible says that the Holy Spirit will teach you all times (John 16:24). If you claim you have the Holy Spirit in you, he would have told you that some clothes you put on are not appropriate. Unless you have been ignoring his voice any time he speaks to you, he tells you the truth at all times. This, I believe is the reason why many Christians expose sensitive parts of their bodies when they dress and not feel bad, uncomfortable or ashamed. If we Christians dress like that, how do we bring the truth concerning dressing appropriately to the people of this age?
Lamentation 3:51 (NCV) says, “I am sad when I see what has happened to all the women of my city”.
‘If you have it, flaunt it’, has become the thought behind the way most people dress today. This mindset has reduced us to nothing. Students, ladies, men, the young, the old and professionals flaunt their assets calling it fashion or being trendy. Videos, adverts on television, billboards, magazines and so on carry pictures of nude people most especially ladies. It breaks my heart seeing the people that God created in his own image and who are supposed to carry themselves with prestige now reduce themselves to symbols of sex and nakedness.
Beauty pageants and models have become victims of the desires of people who are capitalizing on this epidemic in this generation because anything sex, sexy and nude sells faster. Many young girls and men want to become models even at the expense of their academics, pride, and integrity and so on. I am not against modeling but I am against what the industry has turned people created in the image and likeness into. Pornography has been made in such a way that it appeals to all and it is generating serious money for those who are into and produce it.
Musical, movies, pictures and the internet are also conduits through which the message of being naked and accepted is being preached. Some people deliberately snap naked pictures, make videos of it and post it on instagram, facebook and other platforms. Guess what, people view these nude pictures and videos more than other information on the internet. I bet you, this is just the beginning. If Kim kardashian who is supposed to be a role model to so many around the world could do it and people are celebrating it, then just know that being naked and flaunting it has come to stay.
The 14th of July yearly is known as National Nude day. The people behind it said it is a way to keep cool on a hot, sticky summer day and they believe that the human body is most beautiful in their natural state. Nudist groups around the world celebrate this holiday and take it quite seriously! Also, the 5th of February is known as Working Naked Day. It is the day in which you carry out the day’s work unclothed from home. People even have naked parties and they call it "fun". Now, I really think that this world is really going "boncas".
But I believe there is a generation who has not defiled themselves with the King’s meat and wine (going naked) just like the way the almighty God made Elijah to understand that there were people HE had kept for himself who had not defiled, who had not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him (1 Kings 19:14-18). However, we may not be able to stop it fully but we will reach out to people with the message of the gospel and truth.
We should realize that we can still dress decently and still marry decent and rich men. You do not need to expose what is sacred to become wanted by men and also make money. The rate at which ladies are raped should give us an insight into it. Many have developed unhealthy feelings for others and they call it “Love”. Others have ruined their lives with pornography and they see it as entertainment. Gosh, I feel for this generation. Husbands and Wives prefer men and women outside, instead of their spouse all because what they think they see on naked women and men is better off than what is covered and decently kept for them at home. Others do pornography secretly when their spouse is not around. What you do secretly and cannot do in front of your spouse is called cheating. You also prefer those naked people more than your spouse because you think there is “SUGAR” in them. You really need to stop it or else you are half way towards destroying yourself.
What you do and watch in the secret really shows who you really are. But the truth is that the more you watch naked people, the more you become like them in your thinking and attitude. The more you also patronize them, the more you celebrate, encourage and promote them. If God who created Adam and EVE (us) could later cover them with the garment made of animal skin, then you should know how much He wants us to cover our bodies. Adam and Eve were naked but they were not aware of it because the glory of God covered them until their eyes became opened when they ate the apple. The Bibles says in Genesis 2:25 that Adam and his wife were both naked and they felt no shame. This shows that the only person you should expose your nakedness to is your spouse and not your boyfriend, girlfriend, producer and so on. No wonder they had healthy lives and relationships more than us.
I am so amazed by it that there are days on earth people celebrate Nudity and Nakedness. This is appalling because our bodies are supposed to be sacred but now we make it a public thing. Think about it. Babies, adults, the young, old, fat and thin and everyone sees you naked on the street and you are not ashamed of it. No one is supposed to see your nakedness let alone your babies. Some parents even have their bath with their babies and children. Wow, what a way of polluting and perverting children!!! If you do not know, read Genesis 9:18-27. In this scripture, Ham saw Noah, his father’s naked and he told his brothers( Shem and Japheth) who later took clothes , walked backwards so that that would not see their father’s nakedness and covered him up. Guess what! Ham was cursed for it but Shem and Japheth were blessed by their dad.
Our eyes see things daily that can sweep us off our feet but we have made up our minds because our eyes are the door to our spirit. So, we have also decided not to deliberately position ourselves in positions and places that will make us fall and break our heads because of what we see. Job31:1 says, “I made a covenant with my eye not to look lustfully at a young woman”. The war and battle for our souls in this area can be won if we make up our minds not to look, watch pictures, movies of naked people and naked walking people. It will also take deliberate efforts not be look because we may not be able to control some things we see daily but we can control our eyes for wanting to look and look again. We can also control our wanting to go with the flow of dressing and looking naked. Dressing decently is not out of vogue and outdated but it is a very good way of keeping you descent in this world which is full of perversion. Being naked does not only expose your body, it also sends a negative signal to people about who you really are. Wilson Ileogben
