Everyone on earth is faced with one issue or the other. One unique problem about them is that they come in different ways to different people scattered the world over. People always say that there is no new problem under the face of the earth and that the problems come to us depending on our status and gender. The problems of toddlers are different from that of teenagers and the problems of men are different from those of women. What married people are faced with are different from what singles are faced with. The truth about it is that everyone on earth is faced with one challenge or the other but the way every tackles it is different.

There are many stormy waters that people are used to starting  from money, babies, marital, job, family, and so on. Whatever predicament you are faced with can be overcome and you can walk on them as though nothing is happening to you. Every challenge has the solution in it and they usually come to promote you personally or take you down the drain. The more you focus on it, the more the problem becomes bigger and enormous. Mere looking at a problem can get you discouraged and agitated. So,the best thing you can do today is to learn from the master. In the midst of the storm, he walked on the water and even told Peter to do the same. Jesus set an example for us by not focusing on the storm but walking on the water in the face of the storm. Oops, i think this is very instructive and I believe there is something we need to learn from his reaction to the storm he faced.

Matthew 14:22-31 say: 22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd.
23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone,
24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.
26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

There are so many things and lessons we can learn from the passages of the scripture. These are just a few of them:

  • For you to overcome your challenges in this life, you need to solely focus on Jesus. He is the only one who can help you calm the stomps in your life. He can call and bring PEACE into your life when the storms of life come knocking ( Read Matthew 8:23-27).
  • Doubt comes when we lose our focus on God and his word in the face of pains, storms of life and challenges.
  • When you lose your focus on him and his word, fear will certainly come and we all know that the devil and his cohorts strive on fear.
  • The disciples left long before Jesus but he still caught up with them. We can deduce from it that it does not matter how far men and people have gone ahead of us, we can and will still catch up with and overtake them. The distance the disciples had covered took them a long time because Jesus stayed back to dismiss the crowd and to pray. But when he started off the journey to meet with them, it didn’t take him long to catch up with them. When your time comes through  and when you follow the steps of our lord Jesus Christ, it will not take you time to catch up with those who seem to have gone ahead of you and overtake them.
  • When your time comes, your movements and steps may look like you running. People may think you are running though you are just walking normally. Your time will bring speed to you. To you, you are just be doing the normal things you are used to doing. But you will still catch up with them like Jesus who walked on the water and still caught up with his disciples. Every step you take may seem like that of a genius because what people will see in you and around you is speed though you are just taking your usual natural steps.
  • When you hold unto God’s word and you look up to him not minding the storms in your life, you will do extraordinary things and see supernatural provisions in the face of stormy waters. You will also do things beyond the ordinary and also flourish in the midst of the trials in your life.
  • If you get distracted while focusing on him and his word, you will see challenges, issues and so on, which could dissuade you from holding unto his promises. The more you see the issues, the more they become bigger which will eventually weigh you down.
  •  If you do what God asks you to do as you focus on him in the face of trials, you will see positive results and the supernatural in your life. Your provisions, protection, peace and so on will be made available as you do what he instructs you to do.
  • Lastly, you need to have faith in God to overcome trials and the storms of life by speaking to every mountain in your life. Since the spirit of faith speaks, you need to start speaking until that yoke is destroyed. So, you have to start speaking until something happens. Your words should also correspond with your actions. In other words, what you do should not be different from what you speak.

The points listed above are some of the lessons one can learn from the scriptures. They are insights showing that the issues in your life are real and they can be overcome if only you can put your anchor on Jesus. In him we live move and have our being and his thoughts towards us are good. So, we all need to do as He did. What did he do you may ask? He walked in the river in the midst of the storm and caught up with his disciples who had gone ahead of him. If you focus on him and you do what he tells you to do, you will definitely overcome your challenges and your speed will become evident to all. Men will see your speed and wonder if it is you. So, it is possible to walk on the storms of life you are faced with like He did. But it all depends on you. Wilson Ileogben
