In the movie, a Christian Priest was praying for one of the people who had gone mad because she was used for rituals. I heard the Christian Priest say "Holy Ghost Fireeeeeeee". This got me thinking and I looked at the other person in the restaurant and asked him, "Does Holy Ghost Fire Work".
His response baffled me. He said, yes of course and he continued by saying "If you are a wicked person and a christian who prays and throws the holy ghost fire, it will affect you. The best time to throw the holy ghost fire is in the night. When you throw it, it will destroy wicked things and people. Holy Ghost Fireeeee dey work very well ooooooo". Those were some of the things he said and I was just laughing at his ignorance on the inside of me.
At this point in time, two other men came in and they got talking with the man in question about the movie and he told them that I was asking if holy fire works. One of the men that came in turned to me and said, "Holy Ghost Fireeee Dey work ooooooo". I kept quiet not wanting to enter into an argument with them. But I also wondered where the "Holy Ghost Fireeee" prayers came from. I thought about it later and said i would do a write up about it to correct this doctrine.
Two days later I saw some scriptures which gave me more insights into it. I see many people say "Holy Ghost Fire" when they pray, discuss and try to resist every enchantment, curse or plans against them. This really baffles me because this was not what the disciples handed down to us. I cannot say this teaching came from this person or that place but people use it every now and then. However, If i may ask, how many demons have died since people have been shouting, "Holy Ghost Fire"? Some people will argue that it is really working for them. I may not dispute the fact that it works for them, but that is not the standard Christ has set for us.
Luke 9:51-55 says, " And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, 52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village. (KJV)".
"5 And when the messengers turned back unto him, he said unto them, Why are ye now turned back?
6 And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baalzebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die.
7 And he said unto them, What manner of man was he which came up to meet you, and told you these words?
8 And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
9 Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him:and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.
10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty. (KJV)".
"12 And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings.
13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out. (KJV).
"49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt.
50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another. (KJV)".
What salt does to food is what this fire does to you. People who are evil and occultic and demons can't touch you because of this fire. Flies can't perch on a hot pot because if they do, they will be roasted. So, if you keep this fire burning, evil and wicked people and demons can't come near you and your home. They will definitely try but they can't touch you. Instead, they will flee when they see you from afar. The only thing they can do since they can't touch you is to make sure that the fire within you is put out by bringing sin your way and into your life. This fire is not to destroy people unlike what most of us do when we pray. But like Jesus, we are supposed to save people from destruction and going to hell and not destroying them with "holy ghost fireeeeee". Wilson Ileogben
