IT COULD HAVE BEEN ME.

JUST THINKING:

I have heard people testify how they narrowly escape a mishap. What usually comes out of their mouths at the end of the day is "IT COULD HAVE BEEN ME".
I was told of a man who got to a bus park very late. He was in a hurry to travel that day but he met a bus that was already filled up and ready to move. Being a man of resources, he was able to buy his way and one of the passengers seated in front of the bus was asked to step down. The man who was asked to step down was angry but he later alighted from the bus and boarded another bus. The bus which he alighted from left and he had to wait for the new bus to get filled up. The bus eventually got filled up and they embarked on their journey. After a long distance, they got to an accident scene along the way. Who did they see? The bus that had left earlier. It had had
an accident and that man who had bought his way was one of those who died in the accident.
Hmmmm, I believe that man whose seat was bought over would have said to himself after he got the accident scene, "It could have been me". What comes to mind when I think of the times and situations that "it could have been me" is: Lamentations 3:22  which says, "Through the Lord ’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not".
The reason you escaped 9/11, 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, that accident, that stray bullet, that trap, that attack, that sack in the office and so on is not because of luck but because of the mercies of God.
But for His mercies, you should have been dead and buried by now, jobless, homeless and so on. You once had a stomach pain, cancer and an accident but you survived it.  Someone had the same stomach pain not as painful as yours but didn't come out of it. They died, they became bedridden, paralyzed and so on from the same sickness, accident and so on you had.
Take a look at yourself; you have a good health, a good job, a good family, a car, a house and you think it is your money, wealth,  knowledge, friends, abilities and the security measures you have put in place that have been protecting you. If God were to open your eyes to see what he delivers you from daily,  you will appreciate His mercies upon your life.
For some people who are going through issues, challenges, bitter experiences and feel that God has forsaken them should have a change of heart. As long as there is life, there is hope. Your story will change one day because God's thought towards you are good and not evil to bring you to a good future.
So, appreciate him for what you have, who you are, where you are and the life he has given you. If you look back, you will realize that you are alive because he has been merciful to you despite your unfaithfulness. Truly, " It could have been you ", if not for Him.
