SEASONS IN OUR LIVES

JUST THINKING:
The popular American singer and writer R. Kelly sang, “The Storm Is Over” some time again and it was a hit. The song talks about the challenges, pain, issues and difficulties one is facing coming to an end. But one thing the song did not say is that when one storm comes to an end, another starts, or as one is faced with one problem, one or more other problems raise up their heads to add to the immediate problems.

The truth is that there are seasons or times in our lives. There are good seasons as well as bad seasons. Good seasons are seasons when everything is going well for you. They are the times of your life when you enjoy good health, peace, happiness, abundance, peace, and so on.  As long as you are a living being, you will experience good seasons and bad seasons.

Psalm 16: 7 says, I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; my heart also instructs me in the night seasons.

The above scripture talks about night seasons and not night season. This shows that there will be bad times in our lives and not just a bad time or period. We will experience them at different points in our lives. Bad seasons are seasons of pains, regrets, challenges, and trials and so on. But no matter how bad and painful they are, they will not last forever. That is why they are called seasons. Just as there is spring, summer, autumn and winter, so there will be seasons in our lives.

Ecclesiastes 3:1- 8 puts it like this: To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: A time]to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn and so on.

Whatever season you are in right now, is a season for you to live and not to give up. If you are in a good season, it is not the time for you to enjoy, dance and forget about your sorrow alone. Instead, it is also a season for you to prepare for and build capacity for the bad season. We should take a cue from Joseph who prepared the Egyptians in the good season for the bad season through divine revelation.

It is certain that bad seasons will come. So, you should also prepare for it while you are in the good times of your life. In the bad seasons, do not give up on yourself or stop praying and praising God. It may be difficult but it is a time for you to praise, worship, pray and even build capacity the more. The truth is, whether you are in a good season or bad season, God will never change and He still remains a good God.
