CATFISHING

JUST THINKING:

Catfishing is an act of pretending to be someone else on the internet by using their names, profiles and details to deceive people into deceptive emotional relationship. It is used for deceptive activities and people use it as a means of revenge, anger,  loneliness and so on. The impact of catfishing could be harmful to the person being catfished.
A catfish’s goal can be to build a fantasy relationship and manipulate another person’s emotions. Sometimes, however, the catfish’s intention is to gain trust to solicit funds, commit identity theft, extortion, money laundery, bank and office frauds, or even a home robbery. Catfish targets the young and the elderly and both males and females. One major problem with catfishing is that smart people and careless people get catfished.
Leviticus 25:17 says,  "Do not take advantage of each other, but fear your God. I am the LORD your God".
Ironically, many of us are catfishing on a daily basis. The rate of internet fraud, murder through the internet relationship, bullying and deception is very high. However,  I think we can also apply the meaning of catfishing connotatively.
If you deliberately play with heart of people by pretending to love them, you are a catfish. If you use the internet to defraud people, you are also a catfish. If you are living a lie or you are giving people an impression of who and what you are not,  then you are also a catfish. If you do things deliberately to hurt people,  I believe you are catfishing.
1 Thessalonians 4:6 says,  "and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before".
There are people out there who believe and live by catfishing. These people are fraudulent, heartless and selfish. These people are also gifted and skillful but they have chosen to use their talents for hurting people and the economy. If they will use those ingenious and innate abilities for good,  life will be a bit better.
