OWNING UP

JUST THINKING

Like Adam, many of us blame our predicaments, present state,  failures and circumstances on people and God. Adam said “The woman whom You gave to  be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” in Genesis 3:12 NKJV.
I once took that position concerning my former job and my results after I came out of the University though I had a legitimate reason for taking that position. But I later had to let go because I saw my faults in everything apart from the lecturer's faults. Just like me,  many of us are whining over one thing or the other and blaming their life's misfortune on people,  family,  friends,  bosses,  colleagues and so on. The truth is people might have caused you pain but at times we had a role we played in the misfortunes. Other times,  we caused it ourselves but we have refused to see it from the other angle that shows that we are the cause of it.
Some of us even blame it on God that it was what He told us to do that had led us to our shame and bad state. However,  the Bible says in Proverbs 19:3, "The foolishness of man undermines his way [ruining whatever he undertakes]; Then his heart is resentful and rages against the Lord [for, being a fool, he blames the Lord instead of himself]. AMP.
"Some people ruin themselves by their own stupid actions and then blame the Lord". GNT

Also,  many of us have ruined our lives with our hands but we want to blame it on God,  pastors, our parents and so on instead of taking responsibility for everything. Yes,  it may be true that people's actions, decisions and even politics caused us our jobs,  businesses, relationships and so on but we need to see our faults in it as well. Other times we caused it on ourselves outrightly and instead of owning up, we deliberately  put it on people in other to gain sympathy from others.
As for me, I have learnt over time to own up even when it is difficult to do it. When you own up to an error, that is the first step to recovery and making progress. If Adam had owned up and asked for mercy, I believe he would have been forgiven. This is the state of many of us because we usually see the faults of others instead of ours.
