COMMON SENSE

JUST THINKING:

Someone once said that common sense is not common. This is true because there were some things we were taught while growing up by our parents, family, friends and by listening to people.  Some call it etiquette, while others see it as common sense. For example:

Did you know that a man should say thank you to his wife when she cooks and serves him his food at the table?  This may sound crazy to many but sincerely I learnt this from  someone I am close to. It may not be easy to many because of our tradition, culture, mindset and ego. The reason for the feeling is that many men think other wise and they can't just fathom it that a man who labours to provide the resources for the family should tell or say to his wife "THANK YOU " whom he had given the feeding allowance to.  But the truth is that, you should say thank you to her. 
If you knew the efforts, stress, calculations, processes and thinking that go into it like going to the market, preparing the meal and coming out with a sumptuous meal, you will realize that women need to be appreciated. If you know and do it, then you will appreciate the following statement. Children and wards should tell their parents "THANK YOU"  after eating and when they are provided with or giving anything by their parents.

Furthermore, did you know that it is wrong for one to look at someone else's meal whether at home, a party, other places and compare his meal with the person's meal? It is very wrong and unethical to do that. Also,  did you know that it is wrong to give anyone anything with your left hands in some cultures?  It is seen as a form of insult or disrespect to the person you are giving the item to. 

Did you know that greeting your parents and an elderly person or anyone ''Good morning'' when you them in the morning or ''Good Afternoon or Good Evening" whenever you see them in the day. This is an ideal thing to do. But many children today do not know this because some societies have destroyed the family cultures with their laws and some parents of our day do not insists their kids do it unlike in our day.

Likewise, did you know that sleeping with your boy friend or girlfriend is a sin and it is called fornication? Did you also know that sleeping with someone else other than your spouse is a sin and it is called adultery? Did you know that living with a guy who is not your husband is called cohabitation? What about lying, stealing, sharp practices, murder, hatred and so on?

Lastly, did you know that hell is real and anyone who does those things that God has said we should not do without genuine repentance will go to hell?  I know some people do not care about their eternal destination because it has become their way of life to sin which they enjoy and do with reckless abandon. While others do not know that sin will lead them to hell.  

It is very good to do those ethical things put down and passed on to us by men but it is very important and common sense to fear and obey God's commandments. In everything you do, I would like you to fear God because the fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom and health to your flesh.

Proverbs 3:7,8 says:

7. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.

8. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.
