MEN PLEASING VS PLEASING MEN

JUST THINKING:

In our society, people do things for different reasons. Some do things to get favours, to become popular, for selfish reasons, while some do things with good conscience, good intention and to be a help to others. Due to the things they will get, many people have sold their integrity and conscience because they have become men-pleasers. The bible spoke against being a man pleaser in the following scriptures:
Ephesian 6:5-8 says, ‘’Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; 6 not with eye service, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7 with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, 8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free’’.
Men-Pleasers are people who do things with eye-service in other to gain favours, recognition, promotions, and recommendation from their boss, parents, people, politicians and so on. Their motives are to please men or the world rather than God. These people are in every sector in the world.
The bible says we should do things from our hearts with good will as though we are doing them for the lord. Many times men-pleasers  are people who don’t like doing things but when they see their boss, they will be all over the place so that their boss can recognize and appreciate them. Many of them are lazy but they use eye service to get results.
However, there is nothing wrong with doing things to please people. There is a difference between men-pleasing and pleasing people.
Romans 15:1-3 says, “We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2 Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. 3 For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.”
In the above scriptures, it is stated that we should not please ourselves but our neigbours for their good in other to build them up. To please people in order to build them up is to bring them into a state of mind to accept some information. It also means to edify,  strengthen,  to encourage,  to liven up,  to esteem others higher, to be wise in your speech, communicate more effectively by thinking before you speak. It also means to be quick to forgive, be understanding, Zero gossip, to share knowledge, stay humble, be positive with and show them love.
If we do this, we are following the footsteps of Christ who did not please himself but mankind in other to save us. Like a parent who would go an extra mile to please his children,  to cater for, to provide for and to build them up, we should also please our neighbours to build them up though it may cost us pain.
