Some people or militants rebelled in the woman's country some time ago and they killed so many people especially Christians. When this group of people came to her church. They asked who the pastor was and the woman's husband being the Pastor put up his hand. One of the rebells shot him in the head and he dead on the spot. He also slashed her head with a cutlass, thinking, that she would die.
The government troops came to the scene later and saw all the people dead. In the cause of evacuating the corpses, they discovered that the woman was still alive.
They took her to the hospital and she recovered. This did not stop her from preaching the gospel. One day, she went to the prison to preach the gospel to the inmates. At that point in time, the rebells had been captured and put in prison. The same man who killed her husband and slashed her head was right there in that prison. She preached salvation to him and he genuinely gave his life to Jesus Christ. Feeling so bad about what he had done, he stood on a table and shouted, I was the one who killed this woman's husband and I slashed her head. He asked for forgiveness from the woman because of what he had done. Which told him that he had already forgiven him.
Later, the same guy was set free and he didn't have any where to go. This woman in question came and took him to her house and adopted him. Oops!!!!!, this is strange and it is a great example of what it takes and means to forgive a person.
If I were the one, would I have forgiven that person? I have asked myself and I am asking you too today. Will you ever forgive a person like that. The woman did and also adopted the person in question. I don't know what went through her mind any time she saw the man in her house and thought about her husband. I also can tell what she felt like seeing the scare on her head knowing that the person who did it was right there living with her. One thing I know is that she forgave the man and her actions proved it. Are you fighting with unforgiveness today? You need to consider the above story and also read the scriptures below.
Matt 18:21 says, (21 Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times? 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy- seven times.23 Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. 24 When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26 So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything. 27 And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. 28 But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe. 29 So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you. 30 He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt. 31 When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place. 32 Then his master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33 And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you? ’ 34 And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt. 35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.).
Don't say I forgave him six months ago when he did it. I also forgive him last month and last week when he did the same thing. This time I will not forgive him. Jesus made Peter realise that forgiveness is possible. Can any one offend you 490 times in a day? This is the solution to forgiveness. If no one is able to offend you up to 490 times, then, you don't have any right not to forgive any one.
Also, when you sin, you ask God for forgiveness and he forgives you but you don't want to forgive your brother. If God forgives you, you should also forgive your brother, father, mother, friends, neighbour, spouse, colleague and people who have have offended you. It may not be easy but it is possible. Remember this, if God had not forgiven you, where will you be now. Forgiveness comes from the heart and if you have truly forgiven a person, when you see him, you will feel comfortable towards him and not the reverse.
Lastly, forgiving people who have offended you could be the key to that miracle, break through, promotion you are expecting. Many people are really delaying their blessings because of it. I was told that two sisters went to a Pastor because of the issues in their lives. He revealed to them that the reason they were having issues was because they had not forgiven their dad. They had to go to their dad to beg for forgiveness as instructed by the Pastor and they also forgave him for the things he had done to them before the things they were believing God for came to past. Forgiving people is tied to your blessings and you making heaven. It is very possible to forgive if you are willing. Wilson Ileogben.
