Recently, I was rebuked and corrected concerning some things I did. I felt really bad but I had to swallow my pride to appreciate the rebuke and corrections. It was painful but I have learnt over the years to accept every form of rebuke. The truth is always painful and nobody loves to be rebuked except the wise.
The truth being told as a rebuke is painful to the flesh but it will definitely bring you happiness and peace at the end if you accept it (Heb 12: 13).There are people in life who hate the truth and the source of it.
One main reason why many people don't like going to church services is because they are scared of hearing the truth. Some other people criticise some churches and Pastors because they are scared of the truth they will hear from the Pastors and Churches. They prefer going to places where they will be told lies and things that will fancy their desires. Isaiah 30: 9 &10 says ( 9 They have turned against the [Lord] and can't be trusted. They have refused his teaching , 10 and have said to his messengers and prophets: Don't tell us what God has shown you and don't preach the truth. Just say what we want to hear, even if it's false.
Furthermore, many don't like reading the Bible because it tells them the truth about their lives, situations and sins. They know that the Bible speaks against sin, injustice and oppression. They prefer reading magazines and junk papers. If the Bible does not rebuke and correct you, then what else will? The Bible contains the word of God and we know that the word of God is truth. The Bible according to 2 Tim 3:16 & 17 says NIV (16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work).
The king of Isreal hated Prophet Micaiah because he always told him the truth which the kings called evil. The other prophets told him lies and what he wanted to hear and he believed them. But Prophet Micaiah always told him what God told him to tell the king. He put the prophet in jail for telling him the truth.
Are you being persecuted for telling and standing by the truth in your office and environment? Please, don't stop telling the truth because the truth you stand for and tell all the time will save someone and reward you one day. Also, do you hate and run away from the Bible, church and people who correct, rebuke and tell you the truth? Read the following scriptures:
Ecc 7: 5 says, ESV( 5 It is better for a man to hear the rebuke of the wise than to hear the song of fools.).
Pro 29:1 (GNT) says, If you get more stubborn every time you are corrected, one day you will be crushed and never recover.
You need to love the truth (The word of God and Corrections) because only by it, will you be made free, though it is painful. Wilson Ileogben
