Pleasing The Lord.

If a child does well in school, the parents will be proud and pleased with him or her. At this point in time,  the parents may buy a gift for him. Also, if the child ask for any thing, the parents may do it for him. This is what parents do when our actions please them. If this is what they do, what about God, our heavenly father?
There are things God's children do that please Him. Just like our parents, He is pleased when we do things that he has commanded us.  Does your life style please God? To know things that please him, let us see the things that don't please him.
Heb 11:6 says, "And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him (ESV)". You can't please God if you don't walk and live by faith. Remember that it is a sin if you do any thing without faith.
Also, those people who live by and are controlled by the sinful nature or flesh can't please God. ROM 8:8 says, "Those who are in the flesh cannot please God". The work of the flesh are the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life are those things that emanate from the flesh. Remember, if you sow into the sinful nature, you will reap death but if you sow into the spirit, you will reap life. God is not pleased with you when you live according to the dictates of the flesh.
Col 3:20 says, " Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord (KJV)". As a child, if you are rude to, disobey, insult, curse, etc your parents, you are displeasing the lord. When your actions and lifestyle bring shame and disgrace to your parents, you are also displeasing God. We need to obey and respect our parents for God to be pleased with us. If you don't obey your parents, it is high time you started obeying them, if you want to please God.
Further more, if you pray and intercede for people, those in authority and countries, God is pleased with you. 1 Tim 2: 1-3 says, " 1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, (ESV)".
Also, God is not pleased when we do evil and wicked things. The life style of a sinner can't please God let alone his prayers. Pro 15: 8 says that, the prayer of the wicked ( sinners), is abomination before God , while the prayer of believers is pleasing to God.
There are other ways we can please God. However, when you please him, There are things He does like what parents do when their children do things and live a life that please them. Below are a few of the things He does when we please him:
Pro 16: 7 says " When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. (KJV)". He will make your foes, adversaries, enemies to be at peace with you. It sounds quite interesting because an enemy ought to be one who hates you and wants you destroyed. But the Bible says that God will make them to live at peace with you. This means that the evil plans they have against you will be done away with by them. They will love you instead.
Also,  Numbers 14: 8 says,  if the lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us"(NIV). This is also applicable to us if our ways please him. He will lead us into our destiny, purpose, to our place of plenty, abundance, grace, joy, happiness, fulfilment and so on.
In every thing we do, we must seek to and ensure that we please God and not man. Pleasing God should always be on our mind when we relate with people and when we do any thing in life. Our focus at all times should be to please him in every way. Does your life please God? Wilson Ileogben.
