There is a big difference serving the only true God.

 Happy new Year to every one. Many things have been said about 2015. However, i would like every one to serve God more than ever before this year. There is a big difference between serving God and others. Serving God is a way of life that we live by and do daily.
God through Prophet Shemiah said in 2 Chro 12:5 (But they will become his subjects, so they will know the difference between serving me and serving earthly rulers). This scripture was God's judgement on the  King Rehoboam and the people of Judah when Shishak king of Egypt invaded Jerusalem after they had abandoned God.What I am interested here in, is who do we serve?
People serve all sorts of  idols, people, the devil and God today. Serving man reminds me of the slave trade (KONTAKONTE) where there is a master and slaves who were treated like rags. Human beings are dehumanised when serving men. Today's world has become a place where celebrities are worshiped instead of God. Every body wants to be like a superstar. We want to dress, talk and walk like them. But we have forgotten to look at their lives. Many of them are encouraging sex, drugs, indescent dressing, gangsterism, divorce, infidelity, etc. There is a group of people who worship a so called superstar. This lady is a musician and the worshippers see her as a goddess. Please, be careful who you call a role model or else, you will end up like them.
Also, serving idols and things is a big waste of time, resources and energy because men serve things they created with their own hands and these idols can't talk to and save those who serve them. You make say you are not serving idols because you don't bow to any image. This is not totally true because idolatry goes beyond bowing down to any physical object. Idolatry is also a situation where something has taken the place of God in your life. Your job, business, car, house, clothes, the internet, etc, could be the idols in your life. Be careful so that on the last day, God will not say to you that he never knew you whereas you thought you were zealously serving him.
Many people today worship the devil openly and others are serving him without knowing it. When you serve the devil, it will lead you to hell. The devil is behind the worship of men, idols and things. He is the father of lies. If he promises you any thing for you to serve him, he may not give it to you or he will give you but you will pay with your life, your marriage or the lives of your loved ones. What he will get from you will be more than what he gives you.
 Lastly, serving God has benefits in this life and in eternity. God is not a man or the devil that will say this and deny that he said it. He can't lie because he is the only True God. Serving God gives you hope in life. Exodus 23:25-26(read 23-28) says (25 You must serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will remove sickness from your midst. 26 No woman will miscarry her young or be barren in your land. I will fulfill the number of your days). No wonder Joshua said as for me and my house, we will serve the lord. Let us all decide to serve him fully in 2015. Wilson Ileogben
