Some time ago, my niece knocked on my door and said, uncle Wilson, they are looking for you. I asked her who were they and she said she didn't know. When I came out of my room, I discovered that it was my friend and not "they". I corrected her that it was not "they" but a person or some one. If I were to come from my imaginative side and going by that statement, it is really true that "they are looking for you".
Daily, people look for us and we also look out for people. There are so many people and things that are looking for us and our attention either to bless us or to destroy us. The social media, holly wood, jobs, contracts, distractions, fashion, God, the devil, are all looking for our attention daily. Some of these things and people looking for us are trying to add value to us, take from us, control us , own us and bless us.
Gal 5:16 says, " 16 So I tell you: Live by following the Spirit. Then you will not do what your sinful selves want. 17 Our sinful selves want what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit wants what is against our sinful selves. The two are against each other, so you cannot do just what you please. 18 But if the Spirit is leading you, you are not under the law.
19 The wrong things the sinful self does are clear: being sexually unfaithful, not being pure, taking part in sexual sins, 20 worshiping gods, doing witchcraft, hating, making trouble, being jealous, being angry, being selfish, making people angry with each other, causing divisions among people, 21 feeling envy, being drunk, having wild and wasteful parties, and doing other things like these. I warn you now as I warned you before: Those who do these things will not inherit God’s kingdom. 22 But the Spirit produces the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. There is no law that says these things are wrong".
The above scriptures show that the flesh ( the sinful nature) and the Spirit of God is looking for you. The flesh will say, steal that money, reduce your age to get that job, make out with that person and so on. While the Spirit will say forgive him, pray for him, go to church, praise God, bless them, preach the gospel. The two of them are fighting daily to have you. They want to take charge and control over you. The one you heed yourself to will be the one that will control you daily and forever. Many of us have experienced it in different ways. The things we want to do, we don't do it, instead we do the things that are wrong, negative, bad, wicked, sinful, ridiculous, unthoughtful, things. Read Romans 7: 14-20.
Also, it can also be said that your mind and spirit are looking for you. You mind and spirit function by your thoughts pattern which is affected by the things you feel, see, reads, hear and on. When one gives his life to Christ, he is rejuvenated in his spirit. If he feeds his spirit with the things of God and the right things, evil will never take charge of him. Your mind and spirit can become one either for the good or bad. When you give your life to God, it is your spirit that gets born again and not your mind. No wonder Romans 12: 2 says, " Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (ESV)".
Furthermore, God and the devil are looking for you. The flesh(sinful nature) and some times, the mind are controlled by the devil if they are not transformed by God's word. He uses them to distract and destroy people. Whereas the spirit of a person should be controlled by the Spirit of God if he wants to be fruitful in life. Also,1 Peter 5:8 says that the devil is like a roaring lion looking for whom he will devour. While the bible says about God in psalm 33:18 &19 that , " 18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,on those who hope in his steadfast love, 19 that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine. (ESV)". God and the devil are really looking for you. They are the major people looking for you.You have to make up your mind about who you are to respond to and follow.
My advice to you is that you should choose God. He represents life while the devil represent death, decay and deterioration. Deut 30:15, 19&20 says, " 15 See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil. 19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live(ESV)".
You should choose life and not death. This life can only be found in Jesus and not the devil . 1 John 5:11&12 says, " 11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life (ESV)".
You need to choose one from "they" that are looking for you. If you choose life, you will not perish but you will have everlasting life according to John 3:16.
This reminds me of what Joshua said in Joshua 24:15 that, " And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Wilson Ileogben.
