The disappearance of Conscience.

A joke was once told of a boy( AKPOS) and his younger sister (ONOME)."Akpos went to the kitchen to steal fish from the mother's pot. Onome came in and saw him. She shouted Akpos, you are stealing fish from mummy's pot, I will report it to mummy. Akpos responded, can't you see that the fish was coming out from the pot and I was trying to put it back".
Uhm!, that was hilarious. It was a joke but it also shows me a terrible state which I call "The disappearance of conscience".  Today, people do evil things, lie ,steal, etc, and their hearts will not prick them because their hearts have been seared with hot iron. These people have become hard hearted because of consistent sinning and  not repenting of whatever sins commited. Some will try as much as possible to justify and give excuses for the wrong they do. If you sin or you do something wrong and your conscience does not prick you, then you are in a terrible state. You need to cry out to God for mercy.
The Bible says that in the last days men will be lovers of themselves. This is one reason why men no longer feel pricked in their hearts when they err and sin. Examine yourself very well and you may discover that the cause of it is that, your personal altar (secret place) is now filled with ashes and dust.  The reason for this is that, you hardly pray and study the word of God. You also run away from church and the gathering of Christians. No wonder you sin and you are not remorseful about it because your heart has become a heart of stone. You really need to come back to God, your first love.
If your personal altar is hot, your heart will definitely smite you when you go wrong. There will be times that you are in the toilet, kitchen, sitting room, driving, anywhere, the Holy Spirit of God will bring to your heart what you did wrong some time ago that you have forgotten or never knew and thought was wrong. He will make you realise it was wrong.

 If you have missed it as a christian, you need to come back to God and say like David (Psalm 51:10 NCV Create in me a pure heart, God, and make my spirit right again).
For those people who have not accepted christ into their lives, this is the best time. Come to him this day by repenting of your sins and accepting Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour. He will purge your conscience of dead works and make you clean through his blood. He will never reject you if you come to him today. Wilson Ileogben.
